A Member-Led Initiative

The AfA Policy Coalition (APC) empowers organizations by simplifying animal policy advocacy and providing essential tools, resources, and connections to drive meaningful change. By bridging local efforts with global advocacy, APC strengthens collaboration among grassroots groups, NGOs, and international partners, fostering a united voice for animals in Asia.

Formed in June 2022, APC enhances the capacity of its members to influence policies that protect animals. As part of the Asia for Animals Coalition, APC ensures that diverse perspectives are represented on global platforms, driving impactful advocacy that benefits animals, people, and the planet.

APC Activities

APC strengthens collective efforts and unites voices for animals in Asia through various initiatives:

Supporting member organizations with advocacy tools and guidance
Hosting events that foster collaboration and knowledge sharing
Producing resources, including podcasts, blogs, and policy guides
Engaging in global advocacy to elevate regional perspectives

APC bridges local efforts with international frameworks, empowering members to navigate complex policy landscapes and advocate for transformative changes.

Areas of Work

Bridging local and global advocacy efforts by amplifying Asian voices in international animal protection policy discussions surrounding climate change, food system transformation, sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, One Health, environmental protection

Regional network of the World Federation for Animals, ensuring Asia’s perspectives are prioritized globally.

Supporting aligned policy advocacy coalitions by facilitating network introductions, conducting research, and developing position papers and actionable recommendations to advance shared visions and goals.

Supported the Asia-Pacific Animal Law Overview (APALO) project by collaborating with World Animal Justice to centralize anti-cruelty laws across the Asia-Pacific region into a comprehensive, user-friendly database.

Coordinating appeal letters on pressing issues

Building capacity by linking APC members with international legal experts for pro bono audits and policy-related guidance.

Bringing together APC member organizations in working group meetings to align priorities and strengthen collaborations.

Assisting member organizations to obtain accreditation and observer status at global policy advocacy platforms like the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Economic and Social Council among others.
